When you’re shopping for new appliances for you home, you’re bombarded by dozens of competeting brands. And to confuse matters even more, different models from the same brand.
There is also a big difference between prices. Some of them are crazy expensive and other are more moderately priced. But does it really matter? Does the more expensive appilance work better, or help you save on energy bills?
Every week a Guardian Money readers submit questions, and it’s up to you to help him or her out – a selection of the best answers will appear in next Saturday’s paper.
This week’s question
We need a new fridge (and dishwasher) and my husband is insisting that we buy very expensive Míele models. The Míele fridge at just under £1,000 is twice the price of the same-sized Bosch, and the latter has a better energy rating. I can’t believe the Míele is twice as good, but he insists it’ll be worth it in the long run.
Who’s right? Or is there another brand that is better?
What do you think?
